Dr. Bolduc earned his Ph.D. in mass communication at Florida State University in 1993 under the guidance of Ed Wotring, John Mayo and the late Don Ungurait. During his time at FSU Bill taught introductory courses in mass media and film on the main campus and for two years served as the Communication Program Coordinator for the FSU Panama City Branch campus. After teaching for two years at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida Bill settled in Wilmington and began working at UNCW.
STUDENT PROJECT COLLABORATIONS AND GLOBAL PRODUCTIONS
Since Bill arrived at UNCW in 1994 he helped develop the media production concentration in the Communication Studies department, and has seen the program go from two SVHS camcorders and a single tape-to-tape edit system to a robust cache of professional digital cameras, audio and lighting gear and production accessories. These days his students are producing award-winning video and audio projects. Take a look at the COM/media website for sample student work.
Dr. Bolduc has taken students abroad to produce videos in Paris, France, Maynooth & Dublin, Ireland, Swansea, Wales, San Pedro, Belize, and Honduras. (See links on the COM/media home page).
DEEP HISTORY
Bill earned a BA in Mass Communication (1981) and an MBA (1984) at Miami University, Oxford Ohio. Before returning to graduate school in 1986, Bill worked for Warner Amex cable television, Cincinnati Bell Telephone in Cincinnati, and WKEF TV in Dayton.
While completing his doctoral dissertation Bill taught full-time in the communication department at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. He still has a soft spot for the Ponce de Leon Hotel, the main building of the FC campus.
In his spare time Bill plays guitar with the Schoolboys Trio. While he loves his work, the best part of the day for Dr. Bolduc is spending time with his wife PJ. He loves hiking, bicycling, and kayaking. His daughter is a 5th grade teacher in Alaska & his son is a senior at NC State.
